Perspective

Well as we all have come to find out, dear President Gordon B. Hinckley passed away tonight. I don't usually become affected by things or I'm really good at keeping it in, but today I could not control myself. With the onslaught of sobbing I tried to look at the bigger picture. It is clear that our beloved Prophet has returned home to be with his wife and Heavenly Father.
As easy as that is to type, for me and my emotions it will take a lot longer to come to terms with this development. I would like to say how important President Hinckley was in the life of so many member of the church. His service and work has benefited many. Thank you for all you did. We will miss you.

Hopeless Romantic?

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day which means no school for me and since it seems to really enjoy snowing here in Utah, I am left but to do one thing and that is to watch movies. Well I just finished watching one of my all time favorites, Ever After, and it hit me...why are chick flicks so great?
As a girl I can say that these tales of romance and struggle are really what all girls want but the reality is that fairy tales really aren't true. As a single girl at college and especially attending the school where there are more marriages than any other event, that I would be golden in at least the dating aspect, but not quite.
This is a topic that has bugged me for a long time because...well...I think because I am so rooted in the fairy tale notions that have driven my youth. I know why girls watch chick flicks and it is because guys in real life are lame. Now don't get me wrong I have known some great guys but they always seem to be my best friends and not love interests...
I guess this blog as my first really is to make guys out there aware that girls are easy to please in that all we want are fairy tales to come true for us. So if you were willing to do that, the sky's the limits.
